If you have a receptacle that has stopped working, especially after a thunderstorm, look for a GFCI receptacle or breaker (not as common) which could have tripped, killing the power to the receptacle. GFCI's commonly control receptacles in the following areas: outside weatherproof receptacles, unfinished basement receptacles, garage wall receptacles, bathroom receptacles and kitchen counter top receptacles.
